Leonard D. Stevens
Leonard Stevens was born in Waynesburg, Ohio the son of Fred and Jeanette Stevens, he is the fifth of ten children. He is a graduate of Sandy Valley High School and went on to complete a degree in Business Management with a minor in Finance at Kent State University. He was employed by the Akron Urban League’s Hometown Plan as Assistant Director where he was responsible for monitoring and contract compliance for government contacts in Summit County. In 1982 he started his career with Roadway Express as an Operations Manager and later moved up to become Senior Logistics Engineer for Roadway Express and later for Yellow/Roadway Corporation (YLC).
In 1996 he started his own business, Stevens Discount Carpet, which later expanded to become City Flooring and Design Center located in downtown Canton, Ohio. As CEO of City Flooring and Design he has been successful in procuring a number of contracts, most recently the Ralph M. Regula Federal Center, Hunter House, and Eaglecreek Housing Development in Trumbull County.
He is currently president of the Stark County Minority Business Association, The Martin Luther King Jr. Commission, and Chair of the Martin Luther King Jr., Mayor’s Breakfast, Canton Rotary, and the Stark County Regional Chamber of Commerce. He serves as Deacon and Treasurer for Greater Bethel Apostolic Church and recently implemented a young men’s mentoring program, “Foundry”.
Leonard, is married to Brenda Stevens, they live in Plain Township. They are parents to two adult children and two grandchildren.
